I need to do a drug burn and my Commander would like for us to piggy back on an agency close to me. I would need to know who to contact and what would be needed in order for us to do that.
Thanks

Lisa,
Sierra Vista used to piggyback w/ DEA in Tucson, but unfortunately we can’t do that anymore, but we do deliver our bulk bails and packages w/ MJ only to the Tucson warehouse and they burn for us. You can contact Robert Morrison at their warehouse and he may be able to help you. His number is 520-300-3456. Hopefully this will help you. I am looking for another method of disposing of our other narcotics if you come up with a contact for other narcotics besides MJ, that would be great to get a contact if you wouldn’t mind.

How about a trip to beautiful, downtown Yuma? I burn my own drugs. My incinerator can handle 13 cubic feet at a time, will burn pretty much anything and reduces to less than 5% ash. 100 lbs of drugs leaves less than 5 lbs of inert waste that we but in buckets and our Environmental Services guy hauls it away. We had it tested, it can go in the dumpster, but he would rather pick it up. Job security? Anyway, you’re more than welcome to bring it here, it takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours for complete warm-up, burn, cool down cycle so if you have more than one load, you’ll be here all day. You can’t open the door until it cools below 500 degrees. (At peak, it burns at about 1800 degrees)
Thank you both so much!! Jan, I would love to come to Yuma!! I will run it by my Commander and see what we can do! This would be a great solution. I have approximately 500-700lbs, mostly bales. Tim, I will let you know about the other drugs, I
Pinal County also uses the DEA Tucson warehouse for disposal of bulk marijuana and also our small amounts of marijuana. We did have to find a solution to the problem of our other “hard” narcotics. The solution to this for us was to contact the company that DEA uses for their burn needs. The company is called AMCEP, 520-748-1900. They worked with our finance department to open up a Purchasing Order and we can take our narcotics there to be burned. The only issue is that you have to have, at the least, 250 lbs of drugs before they will fire up the smaller furnace for that purpose and you cannot have any kind of plastic bottles, paraphernalia, or other items mixed in with your drugs. The way we do it: we removed anything except the baggies that drugs are stored in or the small glass bottles containing cocaine. We try to keep it as minimal as possible. This has also required us to store the disposal drugs for a while until we can build up to the 250 lb mark. I don’t know if the folks from Sierra Vista or other places that are farther out would want to come to Tucson to use this service, but maybe you can check with a company in your area that does recycling or metal melting to see if they would be willing to work with you. And remember, we stay there while they put the items in the furnace and we don’t leave until it is burned down to ashes. Hope this gives you guys some help. Any questions, call me at 520-866-5189, always willing to exchange ideas.
